What We Offer at Balanced Speech Therapy
-
Not sure if your child needs speech therapy? A speech and language screening is a brief, informal evaluation designed to identify potential communication concerns and determine whether a more comprehensive assessment is recommended.
-
A comprehensive speech and language evaluation provides an in-depth assessment of your child's communication skills to determine strengths, identify areas of need, and guide individualized treatment recommendations.
Each evaluation is tailored to your child's unique needs and may include both formal (standardized) and informal assessment methods to gain a complete picture of their communication abilities.
Following the evaluation, you'll receive a detailed written report outlining your child's strengths, areas of concern, recommendations, and, when appropriate, an individualized treatment plan. Time is also set aside to review the results, answer your questions, and discuss the next steps.
-
Private speech therapy provides individualized, one-on-one intervention designed to support your child's unique communication needs. Sessions are tailored to your child's strengths, interests, and goals while partnering closely with families to promote meaningful progress beyond the therapy session.
Therapy is play-based, engaging, and evidence-informed, with a focus on building functional communication skills that can be carried over into everyday routines and interactions.
Sessions are available in your child's natural environmentsβincluding your home, private school, daycare, or through secure teletherapy across Texasβproviding the flexibility to meet your family's needs while supporting communication where it matters most.
-
Virtual speech therapy offers the same personalized, evidence-based care as in-person sessions, with the convenience of participating from home. Using a secure online platform, therapy is tailored to your child's individual goals while actively involving parents and caregivers to support carryover into everyday routines.
Teletherapy is an effective option for many children and can be especially beneficial for families seeking greater scheduling flexibility, those living in underserved areas, or children who engage best in their own environment.
-
Parents and caregivers play one of the most important roles in a child's communication development. Parent coaching provides practical, individualized strategies to help support communication during everyday routines, play, and family interactionsβturning daily moments into meaningful learning opportunities.
Rather than focusing only on what happens during a therapy session, coaching empowers families with the knowledge and confidence to encourage communication throughout the day. Strategies are tailored to your child's unique strengths, communication style, and your family's routines.
Meet the Owner
Nicole Flood, M.S CCC-SLP
Hi, I'm Nicole, a pediatric speech-language pathologist and the founder of Balanced Speech Therapy. I provide individualized, neurodiversity-affirming speech therapy for children in Houston and surrounding communities, helping families navigate speech, language, and communication challenges with confidence and compassion.
I specialize in working with young children with speech and language delays. Additionally, I have specialized training in Gestalt Language Processing (GLP) and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC). My approach is child-led, play-based, and rooted in building meaningful communication through connection, everyday experiences, and family involvement. Whether we're meeting in your home, at your child's school or daycare, in the community, or through virtual speech therapy across Texas, each session is personalized to your child's strengths, interests, and goals.
At Balanced Speech Therapy, I believe communication is about more than wordsβit's about connecting with others and participating meaningfully in everyday life. I partner closely with parents and caregivers, providing practical strategies and support that help communication grow beyond the therapy session and into the moments that matter most.
